rural transformation
Originally Southay was an unassuming 2-bedroom bungalow on a large corner plot set within open countryside on the outskirts of the Mid Devon village of Newton St Cyres. The clients wanted to retain the bungalow despite having been empty for many years and in a very poor state of repair as it was the reason, they were drawn to this beautiful plot surrounded by agricultural fields and enjoying far reaching views across the open countryside. The brief was to provide a contemporary country style dwelling with large family spaces designed to take in the views across the fields. The use of natural stone and oak help bed the dwelling into its rural setting, whilst providing the clean appearance of a modern family home.
